Book launch: Humans of Nelson

Saturday November 15th from 2-5pm at The Civic Theatre

With more than six thousand FaceBook fans, the Humans of Nelson is a beautiful, touching, funny, and inspiring collection of photographs and stories celebrating our individuality and capturing the spirit of Nelson, British Columbia.   Ryan Oakley, the photographer behind The Humans of Nelson project which is a spin-off of the popular Humans of New York, is launching a book about the project on Saturday Nov 15th at the Civic Movie Theatre between 2pm and 5pm.  This 232 page hardcover coffee-table book will showcase over 100 characters in a combination of colour and black-and-white photos.

In the summer Oakley raised over $10,000 through Kickstarter to help fund the Humans of Nelson book.  As part of that crowdfunding campaign, he promised to donate $1 for every book sold to a local charity, and recently announced that Oxygen Art Centre is the local charity selected!   “I’ve chosen the Oxygen Art Centre as a program that aligns with my creative values for this community” said Oakley in announcement to the Centre last week.  The donation will be given at a presentation during the launch.
Oxygen Art Centre would like to thank Ryan Oakley for his generous and highly creative donation!
