Exhibition Opening: Arin Fay - "Between the Lines"
Please join us! Friday May 28, 7pm. Exhibition dates: May 28 - June 26
Gallery hours: Wednesday through Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.
Between the Lines, a month-long exhibition by Kaslo artist Arin Fay, is a series of highly stylized, impressionistic mixed-media portraits of famous female writers.
Fay describes her work as the “long-overdue result of my academic pursuits colliding with my artistic calling.” As an English Major, she is well versed in the literature of female writers such as Iris Murdoch, Jean Rhys, George Eliot, Charlotte Bronte, Alice Munro, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Ethel Wilson, Flannery O’Connor, and Toni Morrison.
Fay notes that the process of bringing the series to fruition has been an “an endeavor that has been complicated overall by the often paradoxical, but somehow appropriate, demands of motherhood and rural obscurity. It is from just such a perspective that the accomplishments of women become so manifestly clear.”

Artist Talk and Reading: June 18th; "Is All Writing Autobiographical?"
On Friday, June 18 at 7:30 pm Arin will be joined by three local women writers, Susan Andrews Grace, Anne De Grace and Eileen Delehanty Pearkes to read from their work and discuss the topic of fiction as autobiography: self as character.
The exhibition closes on June 26.
