What We Love: Poetry Craft Seminar: Susan Andrews Grace
Feb 14 – Apr 3
Thursdays, 7 – 10pm
$240
What we love is our greatest teacher. This eight week workshop seminar will help participants develop poetry writing skills as well as greater understanding of their own process. Participants will choose a book that is attractive to them, examine and assess it with a view to articulating their own craft. Paying attention to what takes our breath away, as well as to the basic elements such as meaning, line, sound, structure, and imagery, gives great power to our writing. Books of contemporary Canadian poetry will be provided, compliments of Brick Books, for participants to choose and keep. Open to all levels of writing experience.

"Oh the songs we hide, singing them only to ourselves."
                         Theodore Roethke
In the Alchemy of Writing we create a container together - a wide open space for every voice inside us that wants to reveal itself.  Within this openness of Being, this willingness to be fully present for ourselves, we realize that every voice has a right to be heard.  As we write, listen, and let go of our demands and expectations, we discover that the totality of who we are is not limited to the ideas and beliefs of our conditioned mind. The liberating power of free expression allows us to welcome and embrace the wildest and most vulnerable aspects of ou well rselves, as  as our basic sanity and goodness. No previous writing experience required. For more information about Shayla Wright and The Alchemy of Writing, visit www.barefootjourneys.net, or email barefootjourneys@gmail.com

Alchemy of Writing One Day Intensive: Shayla Wright
March 9
Sunday, 9am-3pm
$90
"Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished."
                                  Mary Oliver
We live in a vast field of creative energy that wants to move through us. Opening to this energy allows us to directly experience our relatedness to all of life. In 'The Alchemy of Writing' you give yourself permission to be exactly and precisely who you are. You learn how to access the open ground of presence as the source of your innate creativity. At this Intensive we will be exploring what the Spanish poets call 'duende'-the quality of your raw, wide open, naked voice, before you impose any ideas on it of good or bad, right or wrong. The writing experience in these workshops happens in a circle of mutual respect, kindness, and trust in our capacity to take risks, to follow the thread of our own unfolding, to let go of our attachment to results and surrender to the living process.
